Beginner's Scent Work This class is for dogs older than 4 months of age This class is an introduction, to working with a dog's natural ability, building their confidence and ability to work independently. A class for the dog to enjoy and eventually be able to find a specific odor. Proof of current vaccines is required, including Distemper/Parvo, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cost: $125.00 for the entire 6-week session6 classes per session - 45-60 minute classesTuesdays - 6:30 pm We will have a waiting list for this class if needed Continuing Scent Work This class is for dogs older than 4 months of age that have completed Beginner's Scent Work class Continuing Scent Work is for teams that have completed the Beginner's Scent Work Class. The goal of this class is to further develop both the dog's and handler's techniques to eventually trial at all elements. Proof of current vaccines is required, including Distemper/Parvo, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cost: $125.00 for the entire 6 week session6 classes per session - 45-60 minute classesTuesdays - 7:45 pm We will have a waiting list for this class if needed Puppy Kindergarten I & These classes are for puppies who are up to 26 weeks old - see the description below. The purpose of these classes is to help you develop a good relationship with your puppy. We will cover how to live with and care for your puppy, as well as common puppy problems. We will also work on basic commands with positive reinforcement methods. In addition, your puppy will learn to socialize with other puppies and people. Family members are invited. Please note: if you register for the incorrect class, based on your pup's age, you will be moved into the correct class. Beginner IThis class is designed for dogs 6 months of age, or older, who have had little to no obedience training or have never trained in a class setting.In the Beginner I class we teach fundamentals of positive reinforcement, leadership, and communication with your dog. Exercises include basic beginning obedience commands such as attention, sit, down, and stay, as well as beginning recalls (Come!), loose leash walking, settling, and proper use of hand signals/treats.
PLEASE NOTE: This class has 2 available time slots. If you do not note a class time on your application you will be placed in the first available time slot. If your desired time slot is full, you are welcome to join the other time slot, as long as there is room in that class.

Beginner II For dogs and handlers who have already completed the Beginner I class (required)In this class, we continue basic obedience skills with more focus on loose leash walking, adding distractions to basic exercises (sit, down, stay, attention), polite greetings, recalls, settling, and heeling. We also begin to address the dog/human communications -tone of voice, body posture, hand signals, and understanding what your dog sees/hears.

Canine Good CitizenFor dogs and handlers who have already completed Beginner I class (required) - Beginner II is also recommendedIn this class we cover exercises required for the AKC Canine Good Citizen certification, as well as continue perfecting basic obedience skills. We will administer the CGC test on the last day of the class, but participation is optional. A nominal additional fee is required to take the CGC test. Once you have passed the test, you will receive a certificate of completion from the American Kennel Club. Please click here for more information on the AKC CGC certification.

The Carolina Dog Training Club is pleased to offer the following competition-level classes:
Level One - Ready, Set, Show! For dogs and handlers who have already completed Beginner II class (required). The goal of this class is to prepare the new handler/dog team to compete for Beginner Novice and Companion Dog titles at sanctioned obedience trials. We will cover the different exercises required for each of these titles, as well as provide information on what to expect at an obedience trial. The more experienced handlers looking to polish their performance, to increase their novice scores, may also benefit from this class.

Level Two – Polish and Shine!Admission in this class is by approval of the instructor only! This class is for the more advanced handler; all participants must have titled a dog or have Obedience/Rally trial experience in the past to be eligible. Polish and Shine will focus on the needs and concerns of the individual handler/dog teams as they begin and continue competing. Rally is the newest addition to the competitive obedience events. In Rally the dog and handler follow a course made up of 10 – 20 stations, with signs posted with specific exercises that must be performed. Participants in the Novice-level class will be taught how to interpret and perform the different Rally signs, how to read a Rally course map, how to prepare for a Rally trial, and much, much more. Advanced and Excellent level classes are also occasionally available.
